A Bitcoin wallet for desktop and Android, with local key control, transaction tools and Lightning channels.
Electrum is a Bitcoin-only wallet for people who want control over transactions and wallet setup. It uses servers for blockchain information while keeping private keys out of those servers. That lightweight design has privacy tradeoffs: the main server can associate wallet addresses. Lightning use adds channel management and receiving-capacity requirements. Protect wallet backups and use the official download page to check release signatures.

Official downloads are available for Linux, Windows, macOS, and Android.
The documented Lightning workflow opens channels and requires inbound capacity to receive. The merchant guide targets Electrum 4.0; current interface steps may differ.

Private keys are not sent to Electrum servers. The main server can associate wallet addresses, and connected servers see the connection IP; local key control does not remove these privacy tradeoffs.
Keep the recovery seed for a seed-based wallet. Imported-key wallets require their own backup and cannot be recovered from a seed belonging to another wallet.
Use the official download page and verify the release signatures. Check the listed operating-system requirements before installing.
On-chain transactions pay Bitcoin network fees. Electrum provides dynamic estimates and tools for adjusting eligible unconfirmed transactions; confirmation timing is not guaranteed by a fee estimate.
